1. Not making time for the person. This should be a “well duh” type of thing but sometimes people forget that ldr’s can be sensitive objects that require much care. I remember one time I was so excited about seeing my sweetie over the weekend. I had been planning and planning and then he calls me and says he’s not coming because he wants to do something with his friend. I took it as him putting his friend before me. That did not go over too well.
2. Lying. You think when you are far away that it’s easier to lie because you won’t get caught. I beg to differ. Once you lie you have to keep lying to cover up your lies and it’s just not worth it. Don’t insult your significant other by thinking that they won’t remember what you previously told them.
3. Failing to do the extra’s. Long distance relationships require a little more care than your average relationship. You are not there, people get insecure and lonely. Be sensitive to that and remember that a little thoughtfulness goes a long way.
